When I read about the sign and symptoms of autism, I feel nervous because my son displays some of these autistic traits. I have sleepless nights. I feel very stress. I talk to my husband about this and he simply said that we have no budget for therapist as well for the evaluation fee for the developmental pedia. He said that we have to save money.
As a mother, I will always do what is the best for my son, so I decided to search a therapy center in our place using the internet. I call and text them and inquires about the fees. And at last we were able to visit a Development Pediatrician, Dr. Alexander Jack Herrin. He visits in one of the therapy center here in our place once a month so we make an appointment. He is very approachable.
During the evaluation, Dr. Herrin, interviewed us about my pregnancy and other health problems of my son. Then, he observes our son’s behavior during play. At that time, my son is 2 years old and 7 months. He also tests the intelligence level of our son by giving him instruction as well his communication skills. The evaluation period lasts for about 2 to 3 hours. His evaluation result is Global Development Delay. He said that he was not be able to tell if my son is autistic or not since he is only 2 and 7 years old and he advise my son to have a therapy for 1 times a week for 6 months and we came back for another evaluation.
Our next job is to search the best and suited therapy center for our son.
