Stem Cell Treatment for Autism

Autism is a neurological disorder that characterized by abnormalities on communication and social interaction. Some findings associated with autism is the diminished oxygenation in specific area of the brain and a chronic inflammatory condition in the gut.

Some therapist attempt to reverse autism or some abnormalities through the administration of antibiotics, anti-inflammatory agents and hyperbaricoxygen but it does not work to address the root causes of oxygen deprivation and gut inflammation.

The reason behind treating autism with umbilical cord-tissue derived mesenchymal stems is that autism has been significantly linked inflammatory and neuro-inflammatory cytokines including macrophage-derived chemokine (MDC) and thymus and activation-regulated chemokine. Intravenous administration of umbilical cord MSCs has been shown in multiple clinical trials to decrease inflammation. It is believe that decreasing inflammation may alleviate the symptoms of autism. Through the administration of mesenchymal stem cell , they have observed the improvement of person with autism.

The types of stem cells used to treat autism is from human umbilical cord tissue (allgeneic mesenchymal). This umbilical cord tissue are donated by mothers after normal healthy birthds. Before they approved for treatment all umblical cord-derived stem cells are screened for viruses and bacteria to International Blood Bank Standards.

The umbilical cord-derived stem cells are ideal for the treatment of autism because they allow our physicians to administer uniform doses and they do not require any stem cell collection from the patient. Since it is collected right after normal birth, the umbilical cord-derived cells are much more potent than their older counterparts like bone marrow-derived cells. Cord tissue-derived-mesenchymal stem cells pose no rejection risk because the body does not recognize them as foreign.
