The Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth) now introduce their benefits for those suffering from hearing, visual, mobility impairment and development disability including autism. The program will help to aide these children to cope to their disabilities.
Philhealth announced that the benefit package for children with disabilities is now being developed. The disabilities include the manifestation of delays, regressions, or deviation in the cognitive-adaptive, sensorimotor, communication, social, emotional or behavioral development domains of a child.
The program is under Philhealth circular No. 2017-0029 for Z Benefit Package aims to treat these children with disabilities and love a normal life. For hearing impairment, it includes professional assessment, diagnostic test, hearing devices, rehabilitative/rehabilitative speech therapy to enable them to gain functionality in hearing and communication. While for visual impairment, it cates vision assessment, provision of electronic and non-electronic optical devices with appropriate rehabilitation that will preserve and rehabilitate the children’s ability for sight and purposeful activities.
In addition, for mobility impairment, it provide appropriate mobility devices and habilitative rehabilitative therapy that can potentially had the progression of condition limiting mobility and enable them to navigate access and become more independent. Lastly, for developmental disability includes services for proper diagnosis in order to provide specific milestones in their development which will optimize their capacities and increase their participation in education and in the community.
Philhealth in now on process of implementing the above mentioned program and soon available in contracted facilities with specialized services for the children with disabilities.
