Difference Between Probiotics and Prebiotics

Many are confuse between probiotics and prebiotics because they sound similar but it has different meaning. They are not the same but they both help to improve digestive system since they help to enhance the growth of healthy bacteria to our gut.

Some research suggest that gut is related to having a symptoms of autism that is why this research encourage the children with autism to consume both probiotics and prebiotics to minimize autism’s symptoms.

Probiotics are live beneficial bacteria that created through the process of fermentation in foods such as yogurt, miso soups, kimchi and among other while prebiotics are the non living foods in the large intestine and feed the good bacteria in our gut and help these good bacteria to grow and flourish. These prebiotics is the non-digestive part of foods including bananas, onion, garlic, beans and among others. On the other hand, probiotics can be also found in capsules and powder that will buy on the market.

Probiotics and prebiotics can be consumed at the same time since probiotics can add millions of friendly bacteria to your gut while prebiotics will nourish the friendly bacteria that is already in your gut.

Good bacteria is important to our digestive tract because they help to protect your gut into harmful bacteria and fungi. They also send signals to your immune system and help regulate inflammation.
