Autism is not an illness but it is a range of developmental disorder and also known as autistic spectrum disorder (ASD) which vary from mild to severe. It is characterized by having impairment in social interaction, developmental language and communication skills with rigid repetitive behaviors.
Parents often worry about the future of their children after the diagnosis of autism since as of now there is no known cure for autism. No doctors can ever say the outcomes or prognosis of autism because each child with autism is unique. The causes of autism is vary from child to child and every child has different needs so outcome is also depends on a child on how a child respond to therapy or treatment. Each child needs different approach or treatment. Early diagnosis of autism may have great impact to the prognosis or outcomes of autism because early treatment may implement and minimize the symptoms of autism.

- Children who have mild autism may be improved at 4 to 6 years old if treated at an early age through early interventions and therapies. These children may be able to include themselves among their normal peers. But of course, there are still some difficulties with social interaction.
- Some children may be recovered because of early intervention but there is still social deficit that needs to address.
- Adults with autism most especially with high functioning or Asperger Syndrome are able to work successfully in main stream jobs.
- Nowadays, person with autism will be able to live life to the fullest with the support of their loved ones and continuous therapies.
- Person with autism and have higher IQ may live independently while other stay with their parents.
