The following are the early symptoms of autism:

  1. Delayed developmental milestones
    Developmental milestones is the ability that most children achieve as they grow. These milestone includes physical, social, emotional, cognitive and communication skills such as walking, jumping, talking, sharing with others, expressing emotions, and among others. Six months old child should be able to smile, grasp a finger and respond to voice. A child with autism has a hard time to respond, smile back to his mother and other person.
  2. Not recognizing his name
    A child with autism is not able to respond his name and would not look back.
  3. No or little eye contact
    He has difficulty having eye contact which indicates delay in communication and comprehension.
  4. Delay babbling and cooling
    A baby with autism fail to make babbling and making sounds such as babbling and cooing after three to four months.
  5. Repetitive Behaviors
    A child is a repetitive behaviors such as rocking, spinning, flapping, running back and fourth. It also repetitive movements including spinning wheels, shaking stick, repetitive lining of toys, opening and closing drawers, etc.
