Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) Quick Indication

•    Difficulty focusing or concentrating
•    Difficulty expressing oneself
•    Hyperactivity or overly active
•    Irritable
•    Forgetful
•    Fidgety
•    Impulsive

Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) is a neurobiological disorder and it is the most commonly diagnosed behavioral disorder in children and can persist through adulthood.  Children with ADHD may have difficulty in paying attention, act without thinking or are very impulsive, or overly active.  For some kids, it is normal to be overly active and impulsive but with children with ADHD, these behaviors are present all the time and do not go away or lessen on their own.

If you see that your child is overly active and his action is already interfere with a child’s ability to perform in school, in public places and at home, then it is a time to have your child evaluate by a developmental pediatrician. The doctor will evaluate your child and possibly looks for other developmental or health problem in your child that usually accompanies ADHD.   He also advise you for the next step or possible treatment for your child.

Treatment for ADHD includes a combination of therapy and medication. A 4 to 5 years old with ADHD, behavior therapy is recommended as the first line of treatment but for older children may be prescribed drugs to help in their focus and task commitment.
